Losing the toss always meant we had to hit our straps from the off with short boundaries and an awful uneven outfield fielding was never going to be easy. Although they had a few inside edges we never really hit our lengths or lines consistently enough to cause the batsmen enough problems. With wickets always in the hutch they were able to play the shots without pressure. Credit to the guys for sticking it out but we need to be more consistent in future. Vaughan was the pick of the bowlers with 4 for 58 from 12 and congratulations to Carl Godwin for taking his first league wicket. Chasing 265 in 45 overs was always going to be tough and this was made worse losing the opener without scoring. Iain Hardy found some much deserved form scoring 42 with some lovely shots and although supported by Bastock and Vaughan the scoreboard didn't tick over quick enough. A flurry of wickets saw us just scrap past 75 with 3 wickets left. Another batting point was the target and Marcus ably supported by Kev Crookes took us over the 100 mark, a cry of 25 more fell on deaf ears though as shortly afterwards we were all out. Lessons to be learnt about consistent line and length and the batsmen need to start scoring runs. The challenge still stands: ten 50s and two 100s, who is going to step up!!
